Just in case you are interested in a little bit of information about who I am…
I am a mom of three busy young adults, wife to a wonderful husband, happily self-employed as a photographer for the past six years. Before that, I taught middle school and high school for 14 years.
Many of the things I loved about teaching also apply to photography. I meet a wide variety of very interesting people, and get to know them a little bit. My years of teaching also prepared me to be flexible and to plan ahead.
Why the career change? Photography has always been near and dear to my heart. My grandfather was a serious amateur photographer, and I remember being in the darkroom with him as a magical time. We have boxes and boxes of family photos, going back in to the thirties. Through those photos, I have a strong sense of who I am and who I came from.
When my twins, Theresa and Patrick, were born in 1990, I knew I wanted to document every precious moment of their lives. Michael, my youngest, was born in 1993. It’s hard to believe how quickly the time has gone!
Over the last couple of years, many important family members have passed on. Have photographs of them has become an incredible comfort, and a wonderful way to remember their lives and spirits.
When I am commissioned to create family portraits or wedding photos, I am very aware that I am creating an important piece of family history. I take that responsibility very seriously. I strive to show not only how people look, but the emotion, connections and relationships between people.

You have put into words the exact reason why photographs of my family (and life in general, as well) are so important. Well done and keep up the great work!
